IBM, (select country, investor relations and annual reports) is International Business Machines Corp., based in Armonk, N.Y. IBM linvents, develops and manufactures advanced information technologies, including computer systems, software, storage systems and microelectronics.

Since the 1880s, IBM has found innovative ways to serve businesses large, small and those everywhere in between.

Ben, Philippe and Dave - Can we get a little more personal about the personal computer? This was a really big deal, and from a communications perspective I continue to be impressed with how much IBM communicators/marketers got right:

Renaming the category (it had been called "microcomputer" before IBM entered the market). It's like they took a chapter out of Ries and Trout's 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing. IBM named and owned the "Personal Computer" and "PC" category.
What's the insdie story behind the idea of making the computer friendly ("personal") and the "little tramp" character in TV and print ads. Some people look at the Mac and Apple's "1984" Superbowl ad as the originators of friendly computing, but IBM's marcom efforts were way ahead (and sold a lot more computers).
First in mind: IBM didn't make the first mainframe or PC, but their marcom put them first in mind (Immutable Law #1 Leadership: "It's better to be first than better and Law #3 Mind: It's better to be first in mind than first in market."

Today, IBM is helping communicators online. The company is engaged in social computing, the premise of which, at IBM, is to design digital systems that provide a social context for Web-based activities.

IBM's Social Computing Group created WORLD JAM to provide a platform where employees could help each other: Not by replicating previous forms of computer mediated communication (CMC), but by trying to shape the intranet into a different kind of CMC.

Multimedia research groups around the world in IBM's Research Laboratories are emphasising enterprise business transformation.

IBM is well-known as blog-friendly toward employee blogs.

Coming from Brussels

Go to the Avenue Leopold III and follow that one until the indication towards the Nato.
Take the road right to the Leopold lane and follow the Avenue du Bourget/Bourgetlaan.
The IBM building is at the right after about 500 meter.

Coming from the North or West (Antwerp, Gent,...)

Coming from the Ring around Brussels, take the exit Zaventem Airport, and directly take the right lane.
Take the exit A201 Evere – Zaventem, and follow the direction Evere.
As soon as you get to the A201, take the first exit to Diegem Kantorenzone 2 (Diegem Industrie 2).
At the crossroad go left, and drive under the viaduct, in the direction of Kouterveld – Hermes.
At the roundabout take the first exit, in the direction of E40 Diegem – Hermes.
Follow this road until the next roundabout, where you take the third exit.
After approximately 500 meters the IBM building is at your left hand.

Coming from the East (Waterloo,...)

Follow the outer ring until the exit Zaventem.
Turn left (Heneaulaan) towards Machelen/Diegem and follow this road until you arrive at the roundabout.
Take the third exit in the direction E40 Diegem-Hermes.
Follow the road until the next roundabout, where you take the third exit .
After approximately 500 meter the IBM building is at your left hand.
